Project Overview

The Penguin Project is a nonprofit organization focused on empowering individuals with disabilities through theater. The goal was to create a structured, easy-to-navigate website that highlights the organization’s mission while making it simple for users to explore chapters, events, and ways to get involved.

Development

The site was developed using a custom WordPress setup built on Kadence, extending the theme to support a content-heavy structure across multiple locations and programs.

I used Advanced Custom Fields to create a flexible and organized backend, allowing the team to manage chapters, events, and site content without needing technical experience. Custom post types were implemented to structure key areas of the site, with WP Query used to dynamically display that content across different sections.

Kadence blocks and templates were customized to create reusable components, keeping the design consistent while allowing content to scale efficiently. Additional JavaScript was used to enhance interactivity and improve the overall user experience.

The result is a clean, scalable website that balances ease of use on the backend with a structured, performance-focused frontend.
